  • The Infant Wood Hanging Cross (78252-556-077)

    The InfantCross

For that special moment in life : New Life.

A unique and one-of-a-kind gift for a new or expected baby. Perfect to hang on the cradle or bassinet. Easily moved to the crib or hang on the wall in the child’s room as baby gets older.

Personalize your gift with one of the three ribbons enclosed (pink, blue or white). Appropriate for a new baby shower, birth announcement, baby dedication, confirmation or just because!   The InfantCross™ is a simple gift for a newborn child of God.

Crosses and other religious symbols have been displayed in homes for centuries. Historically, crosses have been carved into caves and stone walls, especially the places where Christians would gather for worship. A simple reminder of salvation.

Each and every InfantCross™ is made lovingly and prayerfully by hand with care in our shop in Frisco, Texas, USA. The cross is made from Premium Bethlehem Olive Wood. There are no stains, lacquers, finishes or petroleum products used in the making of your cross. No trees were cut down for this purpose; trimmings and prunings only were used. Each is a unique and one-of-a-kind offering. Crosses will vary slightly in thickness, wood grain and color patterns due to the actual board from which it is cut. No two boards are alike. Trees are subject to their growing environment; graining and color are a direct reflection of soil, water and temperature. Beads used are Czech Glass and Swarovski Crystals.  Spacers are metal as well as the angel wings.   Heirloom quality jewelry wire holds the InfantCross™ together. The overall length will vary according to the size of the cross and beads; however, each is generally 5-1/2” end-to-end.

Small enough to be tucked inside an envelope or gift box, this will be a truly memorable and loved gift.  We hope you find this sweet offering to be a blessing.

  • North American Black Walnut HoldingCross (78132)

This North American hardwood is found in much of Central and Eastern USA and Canada.

Considered a favorite for furniture makers, Black Walnut has a rich dark brown color with occasional graining running in the wood.  The sapwood is a light straw color and is usually not used commercially but makes a beautiful contrast in HoldingCrosses with the darker heartwood.

Notice the two Black Walnut HoldingCrosses pictured.  You can see the variety of graining and color variation. Most black walnut furniture is stained to make it look uniform.  We think God had it right in the first place!

The picture of two HoldingCrosses is for illustration purposes only to show grain variance.  The HoldingCross price is for each one.

  • North American Pecan HoldingCross (13941-052)

From deep in the heart of Texas, we offer the Pecan HoldingCross.  This wood is both beautiful and rugged. One of the hardest of the American Hardwoods, this represents the ruggedness and beauty of Texas.

In the marketplace, you can get any of the eight species when you buy hickory lumber. True hickory is found throughout the eastern United States. However, the range ofpecan hickories is limited; bitternut is throughout the eastern United States; pecan is found from Texas to Louisiana, through Missouri and Indiana; water hickory is found in Texas through South Carolina; and nutmeg is found in Texas and Louisiana. Separation of lumber into the two groups is impossible unless chemical or microscopic tests are used.

We purchase our lumber ... Pecan Hickory ... from deep in the heart of the Texas hill country because we wanted Texas Pecan from Texas because it is the state Tree!

The wood varies from light tan to a darker earth tone as shown in the picture.

The picture of two HoldingCrosses is for illustration purposes only to show grain variance.

The HoldingCross price is for each one.

    Some interesting notes ....

Pecans have been an important food for man an wild animals in Texas for thousands of years.  Prehistoric Indians depended on native pecans as food. Deer, turkey, squirrels, raccoons, crows and many other animals feed heavily on pecans today as they have in the past.

Whether you pronounce it "pih KAHN" or prefer "PEE kan", the pecan tree (carya illinoensis) is about as American a tree can get.  Archeological evidence shows native Americans in the area of Texas used pecans more than 8,000 years ago. The name comes from the Algonquin word "pacane" meaning "nut so hard as to require a stone to crack”.

Pecans are native only in the United States and crows may have contributed to their selection and distribution by carrying the thin-shelled nuts over several miles.  George Washington had pecans at Mount Vernon and, not to be outdone, gardener and connoisseur Thomas Jefferson had several trees imported from Louisiana for his orders at Monticello.

Pecan and other hickory woods are rated as the number three hardwood group in the United States.  It falls behind only Black Walnut and Black Cherry in terms of commercial value.

When I was a child of six or seven, I would visit my grandmother every summer for a month.  I always enjoyed that time because it was new and different.  It wasn't home but felt like home.  My grandmother would do things a little different than my mom.  From cooking to cleaning to caring for the family, grandma was always happy to spend time with me.

One thing she insisted on was that each morning begin in prayer.  She said it was just as important at the beginning of the day to pray as it was at the end of the day.  So, she taught me to pray in the morning.

My sister was and is an evening person.  I've always been a morning person.  Morning prayer was easier for me.  Bedtime prayers were harder because I was at the end of my day.

You may have children or grandchildren with different internal clocks too.

"Jesus, gentle Shepherd, Bless your child today.
Keep me in Thy footsteps, never let me stray.
Guard me through the daytime.  Every hour I Pray.
Keep my feet from straying, from the narrow way.  Amen."

"Lord, in the morning I start each day by taking a moment to bow and pray.
I start with thanks and ghen give praise, for all your kind a loving ways."

"Now before I run to play, let me not forget to pray.
To God who kept me through the night and waked me with the morning light.
Help me, Lord, to love thee more, Than I ever loved before.
In my work and in my play, be thou with me through the day.  Amen."

"God in heaven hear my prayer, keep me in thy loving care.
Be my guide in all I do, bless all those who love me too.  Amen. "

"Keep my little tongue today, keep it gentle while I play.
Keep my hands from doing wrong; keep my feet the whole day long.
Keep me all, O Jesus mild, Keep me ever your dear child.  Amen."

"Jesus, keep me all this day, when at school and when at play.
May I do all things I ought, may I hate each evil thought.
Help me love and trust in Thee, now and through eternity.  Amen."
